The Green River Plantation is a beautiful mansion located in Rutherfordton, NC. Today the mansion stands in all of its glory on 356 acres, and brings sunshine to the hearts of its guest from the moment they enter its gates. The plantation is open to the public by reservations only, and is available for all types of events.
The stately mansion has been lovingly restored and is open for tours daily by reservation only. It was the year 1987 when the current owners, the Cantrell's took on this project. Mrs. Cantrells grandfather shared the idea with her that he would have liked to have owned this place in his lifetime. She was only 10 years old at the time, but for many years she kept the dream in her heart that maybe one day she might fulfill her grandpas vision. In 1985 the Cantrells viewed the home, but it was not until 1987 that they actually had the opportunity to purchased it. The Cantrells are joined in this project by their daughter Amanda Cantrell. She is the events and reservations coordinator. Amanda and her staff also prepare meals for plantation guests. Meals are served by reservation and there must be a group of 10 to set up a luncheon or dinner. There are many times that smaller groups may be added together, the holidays are a perfect time for this, because there are so many groups to accommodate. The meals can be served in different areas of the plantation, indoors and outdoors options are available. The plantation offers an array of services from Tours of the mansion, weddings, receptions, church and family gatherings and B+B.

My husband and I were recently married here. We had the ceremony and reception here and it was perfect - exactly what we wanted! The people were so friendly and great to work with, the food and cake were amazing and the property is absolutely gorgeous! All of our friends and family had such a great time! We plan to return on our one-year anniversary!
“Wonderful Venue”

My wife and I recently had our wedding reception at the Green River Plantation. It was just a tremendous experience. Ms. Amanda Cantrell is a top-notch hostess and organized everything to perfection. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. Ms. Cantrell also prepared our wedding cake which was beautiful and delicious! We stayed at the plantation on our wedding night and this was also great! The next morning we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in the main Green River House. As a southern history buff...I was blown away and I highly recommend it!
“We could not have picked a better place to have our son's wedding.”

The Green River Plantation worked out perfect for our son's wedding. It turned out absolutely beautiful. We were very pleased with everything. The rehearsal dinner was held here on Saturday night. The ceremony was on Sunday We added the horse and carriage it carried the Bride in then after the ceremony it carried the Bride and Groom off what a great addition.
Amanda and her staff took care of all the food for the rehearsal dinner and reception. They did all of the decorations for the reception and ceremony. Amanda made a beautiful wedding cake.
They were great to work with. So many comments from friends and family about how pretty everything was. We also used a DJ for the reception referred to us by Amanda. (Michael Sprouce) I recommend him.
We had two of the Bed & Breakfast rooms with breakfast each morning and that was also outstanding. Thanks to everyone at Green River Plantation for such a pleasant experience.
